Old World v New World Pinot Noir

A new era is dawning for everyone involved in classrooms and events. Using modern technology, we can enjoy learning about our favourite wines (and gin) from the comfort and safety of our own homes. This has the added advantage that nobody needs to be the “designated driver”. Using Zoom video conferencing is just like being in the room with George, who will, as ever educate, inform and entertain you for about an hour.

All sessions will be recorded and if you can't attend at the last minute just let us know so you can go through the event at your convenience later.

Why not invite your friends to make it a truly social experience?

Tonight, we continue where we left off from Facebook sessions in our comparison of French and New World wines.

All YOU have to do is purchase a ticket from the Milton Keynes Wine School website by clicking the "BOOK" button below, as you would normally. A ticket entitles ALL members of your household to join in. There is no need to buy one ticket per person. Once your ticket purchased, you will receive a confirmation email with your ZOOM web link and password 2 days before the event itself.

This session is all about Pinot Noir, the black grape behind the great wines of Burgundy and increasingly popular in New Zealand, California and Chile

For the New World, I will be sampling a Ned Pinot Noir from New Zealand (widely available in many retailers). Burgundy is a notoriously difficult place to find value for money (especially red) wines. However, unless you want to push the boat out and buy something like a Gevrey Chambertin, the best technique is to seek out some of the less well-known village appellations. I will be uncorking a Domaine Maillard Père et Fils, Chorey-lès Beaune AC available from Waitrose. Other value for money Burgundy villages are Santenay AC, Rully AC, Mercurey AC or Givry AC. Or you coul;d head further south and get one from the Languedoc.
