The Grape Debate on Line
The Grape Debate. Sauvignon Blanc – France or New Zealand?
One of the great discussions in recent years is whether France’s crown has slipped as the leading producer of Sauvignon Blanc. Has the young buck ousted the old man? In this fun evening join George and Ruth – both qualified wine tutors with a great sense of fun – who will put the case for one wine each.
In the French Corner, George will show how the unique history and ‘Terroir’ of the Loire Valley is more than up to repelling any suggestion that its heyday is past.
In the New Zealand Corner, Ruth will demonstrate how Marlborough - unencumbered by the straitjacket of history – has brought a new vitality to the world of wine.
Both George and Ruth are passionate advocates of their adopted region and will (with the aid of the wine) go through the history, taste, price and what to look out for in the Loire and Marlborough.
We suggest below wines for this evening one cheaper than the other – or make your own choice - remember one Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley and one Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough
